We recently completed a project in a six story brick building in the heart of downtown Portsmouth, NH. The building was originally built in 1918 and today it operates as individual condominiums. One condo owner was looking to transform her home into a modern updated living space. She chose Great Northern Builders as her contractor, entrusting that we could manage all aspects of her project – from design to finish.
This project required precision in every way. The urban environment was filled with restrictions including limited parking, limited timing and access for material deliveries, as well as following the parameters set forth by the condo association. The city of Portsmouth code enforcement office, while friendly and helpful, is strict in its operation and required extra communication and planning with our trade partners. And most important, the project timeline. The client took the opportunity to travel during the construction phase and had a firm end date in place. The client put total faith in Great Northern Builders to make sure she would return to a habitable condo and we did not fail!
Some of the updates to the condo included:
- Popcorn ceiling removal
- New flooring and paint throughout
- Complete bathroom transformation
- Aging in place elements including shower upgrades
Using our project management software Co-Construct, we were able to keep this new client well informed during all aspects of construction, even with a six hour time difference. We were so happy to bring this condo update from vision to reality.
