This Southern Maine kitchen remodel transformed an early 1900s home from a closed-off, outdated layout into a modern open concept kitchen designed for today’s lifestyle. By removing an unused doorway, installing a new Thermador gas range, and creating a functional butler’s pantry, Great Northern Builders improved both flow and functionality while preserving the home’s historic charm.

The end result transformed the spaces. An unused doorway was patched in to become an open wall for the new Thermador gas range and hood.

The existing windows were shortened to allow for a sink and dishwasher, new Andersen windows were installed in their place.

Old barn boards were salvaged and finished to create custom shelving throughout the space.

The space that previously held the sink was made into a proper butlers pantry with plenty of extra storage and pull out drawers for trash, recycling, and pet food!

The original hardwood floors were sanded and refinished.
