This Dover Point kitchen didn’t need to be rebuilt from the ground up—it just needed a thoughtful refresh! At Great Northern Builders, we helped bring new life to this space by updating key elements while maintaining the overall layout. The result? A stunning transformation that proves a remodel doesn’t always have to start from scratch.

One of the biggest changes was to the existing cabinetry, which received a fresh new look with Sherwin-Williams Gale Force, a deep, rich blue that adds a bold yet timeless touch. The walls were also updated in Ice Cube, a soft, airy shade that keeps the space feeling bright and fresh. To complement the cabinetry, we installed new countertops, modern fixtures and appliances, and a fresh backsplash, giving the kitchen an updated, high-end feel.

While the layout remained mostly the same, we made one key adjustment to improve functionality. Originally, the countertop extended with a raised bar-height overhang for extra seating, but the homeowner found they never used this feature. By removing the overhang, we gained back valuable floor space, making the kitchen feel more open and efficient.

Another impactful update was the hardwood flooring. We sanded and refinished 500 square feet of oak flooring, applying a fresh coat of polyurethane to restore its natural beauty and durability. These subtle but powerful changes brought new warmth and cohesion to the space.

One of our favorite details of this project was the personalized touch we incorporated into the backsplash. In addition to updating the backsplash tile, we made sure to feature a handmade tile from Europe, a special piece the homeowner’s sister had brought back from a trip. Placing it above the new gas range made it a meaningful and unique focal point in the kitchen.

This Dover Point kitchen refresh is a perfect example of how small, thoughtful updates can completely transform a space. Whether it’s a fresh coat of paint, improved layout, or upgraded finishes, even a refresh renovation can make a big impact on the look and functionality of a home.
